Xulon Press author offers personal wisdom and professional techniques

LONGWOOD, FL--More than 54 million Americans are affected by mental illness, yet it is widely misunderstood by many people both in and out of the church. That is why it is imperative for the church world to reach out and touch the lives of church members who struggle with mental illness. Within the pages of Xulon Press author Marvis Williams' Christian Mindful Manners: How the Church Must Act Concerning Mental Illness ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-126-9), readers will find a wealth of practical tips on how to help a church member who is struggling with mental health issues. The book is based on biblical Scripture and more than 16 years of professional human service experience.

"I hope my book can offer encouragement for others to help a church member recover from mental health issues," the author says. "During my own personal experience, others helped me. I want to offer personal wisdom and professional techniques."

Williams, who has worked 16 years as a certified peer support specialist, residential counselor, and administrative assistant, earned her BA degree in journalism from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. Previously, she published how-to articles for the Pittsburgh Press and worked as a full-time suburban news reporter for the North Hills News Record.

Marvis Williams currently resides in Pittsburgh.
