Compilation of true-life stories demonstrates power of prayer
LONGWOOD, FLâ" If anyone ever told Lucille Joyner that one day she would pray a dead cat back to life or run for mayor to bring change to a corrupt government, she would have thought theyâd gone mad. As a piano technician, she has had no ministerial or political background, but she found that no matter what the need or issue is, if you call upon God and He enters the picture, all things are possible. And God is no respecter of persons. Miracles, Yours for the Asking ($14.99, paperback, 978-1-61215-788-7) is a collection of stories that are so astounding they cannot be explained away by logic or coincidence, says Joyner.
The authorâs primary purpose in writing this book is to let readers know that God is love and He wants the best for us. All we need to do is ask in Jesusâ name. â?"With the rise of televangelism, people are in danger of transferring their faith in God to the televangelist,â says Joyner. â?"When this happens, they not only displease God but also open themselves up to fraud by those who âsellâ miraclesâ"the bigger the donation, the bigger the miracle. We need to protect our faith and keep it where it belongs: in God. Our prayers carry as much weight as anyone elseâs. My book fosters a sense of trust in our own relationship with God. If He can do miracles for me, He can do miracles for anyone.â
Lucille Joyner pursued a career as a jazz pianist in New York City. After marrying and having children, she later became a single mother and went into the piano business. Her writing career was launched when she became a speechwriter for the town's first female mayor and she was asked to write a column by a local editor. Her humorous stories are published in The Piano Technicians Guild Journal and the Volvo newsletter. She is semi-retired to concentrate on writing.
