Leading through the darkest of times

Weak man blessed with the perseverance to achieve the impossible

LONGWOOD, FL -- Author Leonard Pluta believes that each person has a mission to fulfill and a destiny to meet. In his book Father of Thousand Orphans, ($32.99, paperback, 9781613792063; $48.99, hardcover, 9781613792070) Pluta tells a story of how one weak man, Francis Pluta, saves the lives of a thousand orphans. When Francis Pluta entered a seminary in Poland to become a Catholic priest, he had no idea of the journey God would take him on. From Poland to a communist Russian prison camp and finally to India, Father Francis' experiences challenge his faith and trust. When he becomes a father to a thousand orphans, he finds his true calling - but not without life-threatening encounters along the way.

Although Father Francis believes that his life is near its end, he knows that he is responsible for the innocent boys and girls who need shelter and a safe environment.  Father of Thousand Orphans allows people to travel with Father Francis as he continually seeks a home for "His children": somewhere that they can remember their motherland in hopes that they will return to help the war-torn country. Leonard Pluta encourages readers to relive one of the darkest times in history by relating to how the true and faithful Lord fulfills His promise to "never leave thee nor forsake thee."

A native of Poland, Leonard Pluta came to Canada in 1957. He studied and worked for many years until 1967 when he was awarded a Ph.D. degree in economics. This milestone enabled Pluta to teach "the dismal science." After forty years of an enjoyable but remarkably unsuccessful academic career at the small university in Nova Scotia, he retired to devote his time to cutting firewood, gardening and raising peacocks. Leonard Pluta expressed that it important to note that Father of Thousand Orphans was written by itself with very little intervention on his part.
