New Book Shares that Love is Still the Greatest Gift
Offers hope that the love from Christ indeed makes us free
MAITLAND, FL— Sandra van der Bol’s new book Dockside ($16.99, paperback, 9781498495172; $8.99, eBook, 9781498495189 ) is about love. It is about the surprises, the unfolding, the testing, the joy, the pain, the adventure and the eternal bonds of true love. Not only is it about the love between a man and a woman, but also about the love of the Creator for us, His children, and the ways in which He interacts with our earth experiences. In this weaving together of natural and eternal realities, the tapestry of our lives becomes rich, colorful, purposeful and filled with wonder. This book is an illustration of the mystery of love played out in and through the lives of two ordinary, albeit adventurous and ever learning people. In a way, the 'secret' of this love is summed up in Piet's own words: "Marry a Dutchman and love God more than you love him".
Sandra says, “My husband and I only knew one another for 9 days before we wed. Two days later, I went to sea with him on a small freighter. The adventure of our journey, together through life, continued for 54 years. More importantly, the contrast between our struggles before we knew Christ and the redemption, refining and repurposing after accepting Him, is a living testimony to the truth of the 'Good News'. Played out in the multi-dimensional reality of our life together, it could be a bridge for others to cross over into a life in Christ.”
Sandra van der Bol lives in Grand Cayman. She has published poetry over the years, but this is her first book. With her late husband Peter, the Dutchman, she spent many years ministering to drug addicts, prisoners, single mothers and others both within and outside of the ‘church’. Together, they founded Shalom Ministries Cayman with a focus on mind renewal, inner healing and restoration through the Word of God. In this season of her life, she feels called to write.
