Esther Kamps Inspires with Childhood Prayer

2017-12-31

MAITLAND, FL— Within the pages of Esther Kamps’s new book, One More Day: The Ducksprout Garden, ($24.99, paperback, 9781498495196; $9.99, e-book, 9781498495202) readers will find the simple and sweet true story that will bring back memories for many older people, and resonate with the yearnings of youngsters. In Kamps’s story, a young boy learns the generosity and creative power of Almighty God in His answers to the simple prayers of faith. When eggs are discarded as fertilizer, the innocent prayers of a child for God to protect the ducklings from prowling night creatures create a heartwarming tale perfect for the whole family.

“We should always pray believing in God's goodness and loving intention towards us, His children,” states the author. “Sometimes the simple events of long ago have more significance than we realized at the time, and can serve as a reminder and encouragement in our faith. Although the day of the family farmer has passed, it is still worthy of memory and celebration, even if it is only as a reminder that sometimes we need to pray for rain.”

Esther Kamps grew up in rural Maine during WWII when many farmers reverted to horse power because of the scarcity of gasoline and parts. Weekly prayer meetings rotated from farmhouse to farmhouse. Social times often began in the sparsely used front parlor, sharing the photo album or stereo-optic gadget. She was one of the “preacher’s kids” in that small intimate church family.
