LONGWOOD, As Canada's first foreign adoptee brought into a Christian family, Xulon author Nancy McCullough experienced a wide variety of struggles, from the trauma of abandonment to the challenges that accompany adoption. In the author's new release, Adoption Is for a Lifetime: God's Plan for a Family Through All the Phases of Adoption (paperback), the author relays her true story of how God protected and cared for her, starting with her abandonment as a little baby in Hong Kong up until now.

Says McCullough, "I hope the readers would receive the powerful message that there is hope and healing in Christ in regard to all adoption issues. God can heal an adoptee of every issue if he or she allows Him to, just as He healed me. [God] had been my true guardian even when I wasn't aware of it."

The Monroeville, Pennsylvania, resident conducted in-depth research on the adoption process in preparation for the writing of this book. During the course of her research, she says, "I've come to realize there are many adoptees who have unresolved adoption issues that affect the rest of their life. One person said an adoptee will never resolve their abandonment issues until they meet their birth mother. This may be a reality for some, but personally I know this is not true. I never knew my birth parents, yet God miraculously healed me of every wound and pain. God can heal anyone who desires His love and healing power."
