LONGWOOD, FL-In the Bible, the book of Judges tells the story of Israel during the era following their entrance into and partial conquest of the land of Canaan. The first judge of Israel during those days was Othniel, the nephew and son-in-law of Caleb. Before he became a judge, Othniel asked his own father, Kenaz, to tell him more about his uncle. Kenaz's response is a story of adventure and emotion, of life and death, carried out over more than forty years, covering the Israelites' travels from Egypt to the Promised Land. It is the story of a remarkable man known as Caleb. In Frank Hummel's Caleb: Adventures of an Old Testament Hero (paperback, 978-1-60477-390-3), readers will be inspired, entertained, informed, and encouraged to seek a closer relationship with God.

Says Hummel, "Other than the Bible itself, relatively little has been written about the remarkable man known as Caleb. By 'fleshing out' his life with hypothetical characters, likely relationships, and brisk dialogue the reader is able to learn and apply important life lessons. The story of Caleb presents readers with a model for dealing with adversity and other life situations as they recognize and respond to the sovereignty of God."

Born and raised in New Rochelle, New York, Hummel has been a committed Christian for the past 39 years. He has read the Bible several times in four different translations, has taught on several different biblical topics, and has published a book on spiritual warfare titled A Soldier in God's Army. When he was led by the Holy Spirit to write, he began illustrating lessons of faith and life that became an inspiration and blessing to every believer who read them-and he hopes to do the same in this book.
