LONGWOOD, FL-Xulon author R. George Eli, Ph.D.'s newest release, Chasing the Wind ($17.99, paperback, 978-1-60266-404-3), is-according to the author-a simple yet profound story emerging out of the reality of life. It is not a "how to" book, and it is particularly not, in terms of American socio-political culture, a conservative/evangelical/fundamentalist effort. Rather, it is simply the story of one man's faith and how God has worked in and through his life to overcome all of what life, in its unfairness, can sometimes do to each one of us.

Says the author of his book, which was 10 years in the making, "[Readers will gain a] basic understanding of what salvation really is-now-so that that understanding will be able to activate and sustain their faith lives. Because it is based on real-life events, it is one of the best explanations around of what salvation really is. It is a real-life test of faith."

Singaporean by birth and American by culture, Eli was originally a Methodist minister, but his academic career at Duke University led to his leaving the Singapore Methodist Church and ultimately the New England United Methodist Church. Through it all, he has fought to hold onto his faith and has seen that fight come to victory.

R. George Eli, Ph.D., is currently the minister of Lambert's Cover Church on Martha's Vineyard. During the week, he has charge of the Home Care Dept of South Shore Elder Services, where he continues to serve the weak and the elderly in their need.
