LONGWOOD, FL--Have a majority of people allowed themselves to be conned into living a fallacy? John Collins thinks so. In the Xulon Press author's new release, Seeing the Unseen: Opening the Closed Circuit of Everyday Consciousness ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-031-6), he suggests that humankind has largely embraced the fallacy that lasting happiness, fulfillment, and even salvation can be achieved with the ego alone, in separation from the unconscious roots of self. The result, according to Collins, is a widespread inability to truly see and know reality. At its worst, this lack of psychospiritual wholeness can manifest itself in hateful and criminal acts. But even among average, law-abiding folks, ignorance of the unconscious ultimately leads to dissatisfaction and unrest. In , Collins invites readers to learn how to render their everyday experience of reality intelligible, meaningful, and joyful.
"I hope readers will learn that God has endowed humankind with the capacity to see, know, and understand the immaterial, spiritual components of reality," the author says. Collins--who practices law in Bucks County, Pennsylvania--says that his interest in philosophy began during his days as an undergraduate at Johns Hopkins University, where he studied under the noted professor of philosophy, George Boas. He has cultivated this pursuit ever since, compiling pithy kitchen table insights gleaned through extensive reading, travel, and reflection on his own life experience.
