LONGWOOD, FL-Former pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles Jon Burnham was transformed seemingly overnight from an egotistical, foul-mouthed baseball player headed on a collision course with hell into an obedient servant of God. The author chronicles his story of what God did in his life and the lives of many people who came to him for Biblical counsel in his debut, In the Big Inning (paperback, 978-1-60477-771-0). The book explains through stories and illustrations how God's Word is quick and powerful in our daily experiences when we read the Bible, pray, and obey Him.

Says Burnham, "I'm sure the readers will gain tremendous confidence in the Lord as they look at their lives from His point of view. He will help them in the same way He consistently helped the many individuals in this book. People will glean from these pages how God ministers His blessings to others through their Biblical response in difficult situations." For the first few years after Burnham became a Christian, his teenage ministry grew to more than two hundred in attendance as he taught from the Bible. He has seen hundreds of people come to know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord and has witnessed marriages saved, suicides avoided, and guilt and bitterness stopped as God honored his Biblical counsel. If there is one thing he hopes to accomplish with his book, it's for readers "to get their eyes on Him," he says. "We tend to become like the one on whom we focus."
