LONGWOOD, FL-In 100 different essays, Xulon author Barbara Washington Franklin helps millions of people learn how to enjoy life, manage their problems, and achieve colossal success in the pursuit of their cherished dreams and lifetime goals through the application of biblical principles to their daily lives. When You're Down to Nothing, God Is Up to Something (paperback, 978-1-60647-119-7; hardcover, 978-1-60647-120-3), the author's first release, chronicles how millions of hard-working Americans are right in the throes of a down-to-nothing time. But, says the author, the good news is that God is present in these difficult times and that His presence comes with His provision, His protection, and His peace.

"Every man, woman, boy, and girl God chooses to use mightily in His service has a down-to-nothing time. When we recognize our down-to-nothing time as having been lovingly appointed by God, God is then able to abundantly bless us and use us in mighty and magnificent ways to bless others," the author says. "My exhortation to readers is that faithful adherence to the use of biblical principles at all times, including down-to-nothing times, will assure them of the health, wealth, love, and self-expression they seek."

A native of the nation's capital, Franklin derived much of the book's wisdom from her personal roles as daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, and from her professional roles as social worker, teacher, corporate attorney, government official, trial attorney, and colleague. Throughout all of these experiences, she learned that, without a doubt, there is no substitute for Christ in our lives.
