LONGWOOD, FL-Written straight from the heart, veteran author John Hickox's new release from Christian self-publisher Xulon Press, Today I Held a Baby (paperback), focuses on premature babies, their families, and the author's role in caring for them as a respiratory therapist. Hickox, who is the author of two previous books-A Few Good Docs and Suwannee River Princess-has worked as a department head in several large hospitals, and as such, has amassed more than 25 years of experience. His daily dealings with preemies left an imprint on his life that led him to pen this, his latest publication.
Says the Valdosta, Georgia-based author, "I hope readers will feel the joy and the sadness of mothers of preemies. I hope they will believe that God works through tragedies and triumphs and see His hand in every event."
A former district director of the Boy Scouts of America and a former member of the United States Army, Hickox's path to becoming an author was always a clear one. Gifted with the innate ability to put readers right in the middle of the action, Hickox began penning stories when he realized the advice to "write what you know" couldn't be more true. "People like to read about real people doing real things," he says. "I write as I talk: down-to-earth and readable."
John Hickox is retired and currently resides in Valdosta with Beverly, his wife.
