LONGWOOD, FL--Within the pages of Mama Nettie's Time to Love ($18.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-379-9), a new title from Gail C. Fusco, readers will delve into a history rich in the Xulon Press author's memories. Starting with the passing of Hurricane Katrina on August 29, 2005--a storm that devastated the coastal areas of Hancock County, Mississippi--the author takes readers back through history to Pearlington, Mississippi, and shares her childhood memories of the compassion and generosity of her maternal grandparents.

"My grandmother was a humble woman who placed complete trust in God and was motivated by unconditional love," the author says. "After being abandoned by her mother, Arnette Peters Giles vowed that no child around her would ever be abused or mistreated. Arnette reared four biological children, and she and her husband went on to raise more than 42 other children in their home. She received recognition and was honored as the first recipient of the National Volunteer Award, presented by President Nixon in 1971."

Fusco, who was born in New Orleans, believes that her story about "the little black lady from Pearlington, Mississippi" will resonate with readers of all ages as they witness her loving kindness in caring for children. For her part, Fusco has already used her grandmother's example in raising her own five children: Craig, Julie, Shaun, Jeremy, and Mark. It is her hope that readers will be inspired by Arnette's story and allow themselves to be motivated by her unconditional love by reaching out to those in need.
