New book shares authors inner thoughts during an unpopular war

LONGWOOD, FL--The mainstream media is filled with articles painting a much different version of the conflict in Iraq than the one that exists. In Thoughts from the Cradle ($14.99, paperback, 978-1-60647-981-0; $24.99, hardcover, 978-1-60647-983-4), Kirk A. Milhoan, MD, Ph.D., shares a very honest and personal reflection on what he was seeing and what God taught him in Iraq during his two tours in 2005 and 2007. The author began penning a collection of essays during his deployments, honestly sharing his thoughts, emotions, and frustrations over being a Christian military physician in harm's way. Thoughts from the Cradle gives a rare glimpse into this military physician's inner thoughts as he reconciled his faith, profession, and calling during an unpopular war.

Says Milhoan, a decorated war veteran, "I have shared my thoughts during my two deployments in Iraq on the country and the people as well as my fellow armed service men. Much can be learned from the conflict in Iraq from hearing the thoughts from someone who has taken care of the wounded on both sides of the conflict as well as the innocent bystanders."

Living his daily life in a war zone, Milhoan sought to apply God's living Word to his everyday actions. In vivid imagery, his book allows you to walk with him in the intensive care units as he is taken aboard a Blackhawk helicopter to transfer the wounded enemy, and to cry with him as he describes the very best and worst acts of men and what happens to children when they are caught between. Now the medical director of a non-profit organization called For Hearts and Souls, Milhoan and his wife go around the world seeking to share God's love through medical service. Thoughts from the Cradle will inspire readers to do similarly, sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ through word and deed with those who are most vulnerable.
