LONGWOOD, FL--Seventy-year-old Clay Morgan and two of his sons are taking a three thousand-mile cross-country road trip to his third son's wedding. The sons make a deal with their father: he will tell stories if they seek his favorite snack--microwave pigskins. He weaves a Christian-based comic romance where a devoted klansman and his daughter fall in love with people they shouldn't. Through it all, Dad becomes a hero when he gives a heartfelt wedding toast to the newlywed couple and influences an in-law to stand up for himself. However, he creates unforgiving enemies by expressing a negative opinion at the rehearsal dinner in Mush ($22.99, paperback, 978-1-60957-386-7), a new novel from Xulon Press author Clay Wilson.

"In a world overflowing with war, economic chaos, and misery, there is always room for something else. The 'something else' is simply the ability to laugh, love, and be mindful of the brilliant silver lining around those clouds that seem to be everywhere," the author says. "Mush is a funny, romantic, and uplifting tale that is contrary to the more often told stories of Armageddon."

The novel draws heavily from Wilson's own life; every day for six years, he drove his sons 45 minutes to school. If they behaved themselves, he told them a story. Then one day out of the blue, they demanded that he start writing the tales down. This is the fruit of that labor, and the author hopes to show how the relationship between a father and his children--especially his sons--can be the most meaningful and beautiful of all.
