LONGWOOD, FL-Marty Thompson's book, Searching for the Perfect Youth Ministry (paperback, 978-1-60477-692-8), has hit bookstores, and the Xulon author believes it couldn't have come at a better time, as it contains keys vital to preserving the future of student ministry: "My prayer is that an entire new generation of student ministers will use this book to develop the necessary perspective, conviction, passion, and skills needed for student ministry," he says. Written for the sole purpose of making youth ministers aware of concerns and problems prior to their conception, Thompson's book will allow each minister to evaluate his or her situation and search for practical and positive ways to either prevent these trials from happening or at least diminish their potentially dangerous effects. Ultimately, the book will provide youth ministers with longer and more prosperous tenures.
Says the author of the lack of viable material available on a student ministerÕs journey, "In all my years of serving, I've never seen a reference that puts the entire journey of a student pastor in one book. Having served in five unique churches ranging from 500 to more than 5,000 in attendance for 20-plus years, Thompson has the credentials necessary to share the keys to more prosperous tenures.
