MAITLAND, FL— At the heart of poetry is just that,
the heart. Within the pages of Clarence ‘Sonny’ White’s new book, Reflections
in Time ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-61904-497-5; $5.49, eBook, 978-1-61904-902-4), readers will find emotion and heart at the
core of every poem. The importance of God, family, friends and the military are
the main themes woven throughout the poet’s rhythmic lines with the intent to
promote harmony and to reflect positively on what it means to be a Christian.
The author expresses his love for God, his family and his respect for the
military, which will in turn inspire readers to find a deeper love and respect
for each within themselves as well.
“These poems and
songs are about life and mostly true. I feel readers may be able to relate,”
White expresses. “I want to let them know others have experienced similar
problems and offer encouragement. I would hope to make them feel good about
themselves. The humorous poems will hopefully produce a chuckle or smile as
well. Most importantly, I want to project the importance of God; that’s why
these poems are written from the heart and express true emotion.
Clarence ‘Sonny’
White was born in Covington, Tennessee. He has been writing songs and poems
most of his life. He grew up listening to his mother sing while doing the house
work and listening to the Grand Old Opry
on an old battery powered family radio most every Sunday night. He contributes
his passion for writing to both his mother’s singing and the time he spent
listening to the radio. At the age of twelve, the author’s first poem was published
in The Covington Leader, which was a
newspaper in his hometown. Since then, several of his poems have been included
on videos by friends Steve Politte and Chee Chee Martin.
