MAITLAND, FL— Imagine moving to a foreign country alone, without family and friends, and being given the chance to discover the depths of individuality and explore a personal relationship with the Lord.  Readers will discover in Dionna Latimer-Hearn’s new book, Unexpected Places ($16.99, paperback, 978-1-61904-480-7; $26.99, hardcover, 978-1-61904-481-4), that is exactly what the author did shortly after graduating from college.  Latimer-Hearn picked up her entire life and embarked on a journey that would force her to confront the difficulties related to her childhood in a dysfunctional family unit.  She arrived in France with nothing but her suitcases and her overwhelming emotions. Follow along with her as she struggles to establish herself and determine her unique identity and purpose in a new world, which allows her to experience God’s incredible mercy and sovereignty as He is the only One that can turn life’s lowest moments into spiritual prosperity.

“Ideally, readers will understand that they can overcome seemingly impossible situations and see God at work (and His purpose for them) in their lives despite difficult times,” states the author. “It is an inspiring story about overcoming your past and present fears, struggles and pain in order to become the person that God intends for you to be. It is an important message because of the number of people struggling with domestic violence, abuse, neglect, alcoholism and related issues during their formative years.”

Dionna Latimer-Hearn is a practicing speech-language pathologist and the co-founder and director of the R.E.A.C.T. Initiative, which is a non-profit organization serving inner city youth. She currently lives in Maryland with her husband, Cedric, and their three sons. Latimer-Hearn has worked as a youth ministry leader since 2005 and has worked closely with and counseled youth on issues relating to those presented in her book.
