MAITLAND, FL— Andrew F. Manthe’s new book, Don’t Torture Scripture ($11.99, paperback, 978-1-62230-757-9; $5.99, e-book, 978-1-62230-758-6) forewarns readers of the ongoing “twisting” of scripture by various church denominations. According to the author, this practice is done in order to change what the verse originally meant, in the interest of supporting false doctrines.

“The most important point I wish to convey is: a text without context is pretext [which is falsehood or error],” states the author. “This book has the potential to awaken many Christian leaders and laypersons to the shocking realization that they have been taught to believe doctrines and engage in practices that have no validation in God’s Word, the Bible.”

At age fifty-four, Andrew Manthe has a degree in religion from Pacific Union College located in California’s Napa Valley. Manthe has completed beginning studies in two biblical languages: Hebrew and Greek. He has twenty-five years of experience in giving Bible studies to both individuals and groups of people. He serves as a part-time lay preacher. The author has a passion for interpreting verses and passages in Scripture with reference to the surrounding textual perspective. He resides in Northern California
