MAITLAND, FL— Most people do not think to turn to God for help in breaking their addictions, but Mary Ann Blount shares in her new book, Are You Ready? ($14.99, paperback, 978-1-62509-150-5; $7.49, eBook, 978-1-62509-151-2), that with God’s grace and guidance anyone can overcome their addictive habits. She has pulled portions of her father’s old sermons and revised them to help those suffering from a multitude of addictions including smoking. As a former smoker, Blount knows the struggle to kick those bad habits as well as how hard it is to help a spouse do the same. This book will provide the courage and confidence to be rid of those habits and gain the knowledge that God loves each and every person despite their shortcomings.

“There are millions of people with addictions that need to know that God loves them and there is always hope to become the person [they] want to be,” states the author. “I smoked for many years and tried to quit many times, so I know firsthand the difficulty in trying to quit and to help your spouse try to quit. I’ve watched my father-in-law die from emphysema. But, finally, with God’s strength and His grace I was able to overcome this terrible addiction. I finally put that pack down and walked away from the cigarettes forever.”

Mary Ann Blount, a Preacher’s kid (P.K.), has taken her father’s previous sermons and revised them to help others quit smoking like she was able to do. This book is not only for those addicted to smoking, but also other addictions and even spouses trying to grasp how they can help break the addiction their husband or wife may be dealing with. The author clearly states in the beginning that this book is not for someone simply interested in quitting, they must be ready to truly commit to quitting. Blount is transparent in saying this is not the easy way out, but it’s the right way.
