MAITLAND, FL— Within the pages of Dorothy L. Johnson’s new book, Our Father’s Children: A Prayer Guide for Parent & Child ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-62509-898-6; $8.99, e-book, 978-1-62509-899-3) readers will learn the purpose of this guide: to teach young children the art, blessing, and the importance of prayer in daily living. Johnson continues, “This little book emphasizes the simplicity of the art of prayer; that parents can pray for and with their children. Just as a child can grasp basic cognitive skills, a young child can embrace the art of prayer with full assurance that God listens to them.”

“My hope for all who both read and use this book, is to make young children, who are so vulnerable in our society, aware of the real presence of the living unseen God and to assure them that He is interested in them,” states the author. “It is important for children to learn how to pray as they grow and to realize that, regardless to the successes or difficulties they encounter, there is a real God who extends a special invitation to them and has their interest at heart.”

Dorothy L. Johnson, a native of Baltimore, Maryland, is the youngest of ten children and a large extended family. She is a graduate of Coppin State University, with a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education. Most of her work has been centered in education and human services to families with children. She became a Christian at the early age of eleven and developed a strong passion for prayer and Bible study. The author adds, “…I had a praying mother who taught me that God loves me, and my life has value because of that love. For as long as I can remember, I was always taught to pray before eating, sleeping, or making choices. That practice continues in my life today.”
