This book targets Evangelical Christianity in America and takes a critical look at its message, methods and spiritual condition. The author maintains that the Evangelical church and Christian culture are moving in a direction that will lead to further deception and compromise as they accommodate the world culture to retain numerical growth. According to Kern, few professing Christians will have an interest in what does not accommodate them or make them feel good. The author believes that a personal revival of God’s truth is needed in a believer’s life to overcome the deception and compromise that is prevalent in popular Christianity.
Lynn Robert Kern was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota; attended the University of Minnesota, Duluth and taught school for four years. The author and his wife, Paula, and their children moved to Montana in 1974 where he taught school on the Crow Indian Reservation. Two years later, Lynn had the opportunity to become a pastor of a small church, the first of four he would pastor in Montana. In 2009, Lynn retired as an associate pastor in the Duluth area, where he had been on the pastoral staff for thirteen years. The thoughts expressed in this book come as a result of a strong desire to know truth as it pertains to God and His plans for His people.
