Author Patrick Atkinson has worked in international development for over three decades. Turning down lucrative corporate job offers after graduating from college, Atkinson chose instead to work with runaways and street gangs in the violent streets of America, trying to return runaways home. In the mid-eighties, Atkinson departed for Central America where he engaged in war-zone reconciliation and post-war reconstruction in the killing fields of El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Panama and Columbia. Eventually, Atkinson accepted an assignment to document the trafficking of young souls in Southeast Asia, where he worked to prevent and publicize commercial labor and sexual exploitation. For the past twenty years, Atkinson has been Founder and Executive Director of different international charitable networks including AtkinsonCenter.org.
