who introduce her to Christianity and start a campaign against female genital
mutilation. The author’s underlying message is that everyday people can come
together by fate, destined to help others.
“I want the world to know that 8000 little girls around the world are mutilated every day, and there is no one to protect them from this brutal practice,” states the author. “My book is an informative source and it is my intention that it be circulated all over the United States for women and men alike to know about female genital mutilation.” The author has founded a non-profit 501c3 organization that endeavors to make female genital mutilation a thing of the past. The author has pledged all proceeds from the book to help in a campaign against the practice and build an educational boarding center for girls in Liberia, West Africa.
A.M. Peabody is the first Liberian woman to pen and publish a full-length novel. She survived a violent coup d’etat in Liberia, which resulted in a vicious military attack on her family’s home, where she, her sons and husband took refuge. Soldiers of the opposing political party went on a twenty-minute shooting rampage on the home and debated on whether to assassinate her entire family. A.M. Peabody is an award-winning author, and a highly sought after public speaker on the issues of women empowerment and gender based violence, which includes female genital mutilation.
