MAITLAND, FL— Within his new book, Golf Is Not What You Think (A satirical informative comedy about the greatest individual game ever created) ($10.99, paperback, 9781628710861; $19.99, hardcover, 9781628710878; $5.99, e-book, 9781628710885), Philip Ripley Ward presents a refreshingly different perspective that steers away from the notion that thinking and trying harder will accomplish life's endeavors. The author offers a total guide for all things golf, with life lessons conversationally intertwined within. The reader will gain a complete view at this often overlooked sport and walk away with a brand new mindset to take on the world.

“To fully appreciate golf—which is a reflection of something much bigger—a person need realize the ‘game’ consists of a riddle that is only solvable if we can understand the important connection with our higher self and God,” states the author. “God can change everything for the best if you can imagine, believe and trust in His power.”

Philip Ripley Ward, independent golf professional and instructor since 1979, virtually "circled the mountain" for forty years (as the Israelites did, according to the Bible). Only in the more recent past did he surrender the thinking and trying process, to turn all of his faith and trust to God. During those many, many miles of frustration, he relied on talent (a gift—not a possession) to shoot mostly in the mid- to low seventies, with an occasional high sixties. Now, he regularly plays in the mid- to high sixties, with a low sixties popping up from time to time. His personal best—28 for nine holes (par 36) is one of his favorite accomplishments. In 2013, he made his fourth and fifth holes-in-one.
