MAITLAND, FL— R. J. Conn’s new book, In His Hands ($19.49, paperback, 9781628716832; $9.99, e-book, 9781628716849) is a Western novel about Callon, a man of faith who is also a master with a gun. The protagonist is faced with the challenge to contend on behalf of the innocent victims of greed, lust and murder. In the midst of this war, Fallon soon discovers the sweet terror of love. The prevalent themes in this story are the glaring paradoxes surrounding the skillful, Christian gunman.

“It is a story about real people facing terrible struggles, who find victory or defeat only through faith in God or the denial of it,” states the author. “This world is a mingled yarn of good and evil… Still, our faith teaches us that we have reason to rejoice while in the wonders of love and in the darkness of the terrible tale. I would hope readers enjoy the story and touch the source of the joy.”

A native of San Diego, California, married with four children; R. J. Conn is a teacher of thirty-seven years. He has studied, on site, many of the places mentioned in the book. He has hiked, hunted, and fished over most of the Sierras. He is also a veteran of the Vietnam War who knows how faith stands up to fire, whether bullets or jeers.
