MAITLAND, FL— In the new book, Why God Why: Drawing Near to God When Life Hurts ($13.99, paperback, 9781629520704; $6.99, e-book, 9781629520711) author Dr. Nathan Sommer shares his life story, surrounding a physical disability. The mission of his book is to help people draw near to God, especially when life hurts. Dr. Sommer shares a divine revelation, and encourages readers in their spiritual journey to a personal relationship with God.

“What you think is your biggest problem and most desperate need pales in comparison to your need for God,” states the author. “[This book] doesn’t answer the question of ‘Why God Why?’ but it helps you draw near to the One who can answer your questions.”

Dr. Sommer grew up with severe/profound hearing loss in both ears. As a boy, he would often ask God why he could not hear like other people. He learned that if we can hear man, but not God, we are deaf. If we can see, but do not see God, we are blind. If we can walk, but are not walking with God, we are crippled. Looking back on his published book, the author expresses, “This is the story that God has written, with the life that God has made. The Silent World poem summarizes it fairly well… I still wait for the day of healing. When I re-read the poem, my book, and even my testimony, I often have a hard time believing that my hands had anything to do with writing those. They seem to be more given to me than written by me. It is my prayer that they will be a gift to you as well.”
