When asked about her credentials in authoring Dive, Destiny shared, “It's impossible to be an expert on something that doesn't exist, but I do have an extensive imagination that allowed me to create a whole world in the depths of the ocean, and intertwine it with the world above it. Other than my invented expertise on merpeople, I think that being a teenager makes me an expert on how teenagers act and think. One of the main characters is in the same part of life as I am, which made it easier to relate and understand where she was coming from."
