shared Dave’s physical and spiritual journey undergoing treatments for
esophageal cancer. The emphasis in his writings is that, even though life may
be troublesome at times, even unfair, the love of God and friends cultivates
hope and courage.

Dave Trout was a family man, musician, actor, tinkerer, motorcycle-riding minister with a passion for clocks, trains, God, and all His people. He was characterized by his strong bass voice and his “bursts of enthusiasm.” He lived life to the fullest. Dave was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in August of 2011, and died in the pre-dawn of September 18, 2013. Daylight brought a spectacular sunrise, symbolizing his emphatic faith in a glorious new life after death. Pat Trout was Dave’s helpmate in marriage, parenting, and ministry while also pursuing her own career as a teacher. They were a team for forty-six years—in sickness and in health.
