MAITLAND, FL— Within the pages of her new
book, My Mother Wears Combat Boots, ($9.99, paperback, 9781498416757;
$4.99, e-book, 9781498416764) Doris Carroll takes readers on a visual journey
as a daughter narrates her mother’s extraordinary, daily activities. The young
girl discusses her mother’s roles in life as depicted by her various shoes,
including boots. Throughout, children and their parents will be strengthened
and encouraged to embrace the many roles that life offers, including service to
our country, and family fun.
“My hope is that readers will gain an understanding that the role of a mother can be without occupational boundaries,” states the author. “The mother’s career, family activities, worship life, and recreation with her children are illustrated showing the variety of roles that a mom enjoys. The devotion to family, God, and to our country is played out with each page.”
Doris Carroll is a wife, a mother, and a grandmother who enjoys a varied life. The author either personally has lived the roles, or has known several women whose lives have been as depicted in the book. She is a former woman in construction, and is now a licensed mental health counselor with other certifications in the counseling field. She has assisted hundreds of families by facilitating the Strengthening Families Program, and has a thriving clinic.
