MAITLAND, FL— Kemi Adefarakan’s new book, From Trash to Treasure: My Journey to Discovering the Treasure in My Flawed Vessel, ($13.99, paperback, 9781498421485; $27.99, dust jacket, 9781498428804; $6.99, e-book, 9781498421492) conveys that, despite past mistakes, there is a God-given identity that belongs to each individual. Sins from yesterday or yesteryear do not define any person who is in Christ. The author urges readers to let go of the baggage from the past that may be weighing them down and/or that may be obstructing them from achieving God’s very purpose for their lives.

“We are all God's treasure no matter how bad our pasts were,” states the author. “Nothing we have done, was done to us, or that we have gone through can make us less than we are—God's treasure, unique, and of inestimable value. God will use what we think disqualifies us to bring Him glory.”

Kemi Adefarakan is a pastor's daughter who lost her way for a very long time. She struggled with self-worth as a result of believing the lies of the devil, which convinced her that her identity was in her mistakes. The author explains, “Even when I gave my life back to God, I felt disqualified. I wanted more out of my life, but I believed there was no way God could use me.” Kemi lived with the fear that if people knew what she had done, they would judge her. She allowed the weight of her past to hold her down until God began to reveal that her past couldn’t disqualify her.
