MAITLAND, FL— Within the pages of Patrice Cagle’s new book, My Sustainer, ($13.99, paperback, 9781498439756; $6.99, e-book, 9781498439763) readers will discover a testimony for everyone who questions the purpose of life’s trials and wonders where God is during the pain. Patrice Cagle was a victim of abuse for many years. She was broken to the point where she felt dirty, unwanted, untouchable, and unlovable. She did not understand how God could want a person like her to be His child. Then He reminded her that He is always with her (Mt 28:20) and that he still loved her – even if she messed up. The change was not instant and painless. She became absolutely dependent on God’s love and grace, but her healing required that she take an active role in becoming who she was created to be. Her story will help others in similar situations.

My life used to be a mess, but it’s because of that mess that I now have a message,” states the author. “My Sustainer is intended to help others realize that no matter what they’ve gone through in their past or they may be currently experiencing, God has a good purpose behind it. He will give you the strength to ‘grow’ through it, as long as you lean and depend on Him. Trust that in the end He will turn it around and work it out for your good—making you stronger, wiser, and better – giving Him the glory.”

Patrice Cagle’s abuse began not with strangers but with trusted loved ones. The repeated abuses and almost total lack of support led her to a place of tragic acceptance, which set the pattern for a long period of guilt and unhealthy relationships. Recovery took meditation on the Word, prayer and fasting, obedience to His will, godly counseling, and bonding with others who had survived similar horrors. She credits her experiences and survival for the ability to tell about it in this book.
