MAITLAND, FL— Richard Cheu’s new book, Living Well with Chronic Illness - A Practical and Spiritual Guide, ($15.99, paperback, 9781498469753) guides people physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually through living with chronic illness. It gives the reader a complete model for living that can also benefit caregivers and family members. Most importantly, it empowers the patient to take responsibility for one’s own healthcare to improve mental, physical and spiritual health – and to sustain the best possible quality of life, every single day.

Being diagnosed with a chronic illness can bring on strong feelings of shock, fear and despair. Cheu stresses that diagnosis is a time when the patient needs to take action toward having the best possible outcome. This book helps each person take charge of emotions and thoughts, let go of negative emotional baggage that is holding them back, develop a new perspective and plan for the future, and use the illness for personal transformation. Readers will learn how to restore a sense of hope and motivation by applying tools like positive psychology and your personal spirituality.

Fear of change is the greatest hurdle to living a full life for virtually everyone and this is particularly true for patients with physical and mental chronic diseases,” states the author. “This book shows the patient how to master fear and change through methods of coping and transformation. Social isolation is perhaps the greatest problem for the chronically ill. It also shows how to have a social involvement of one’s choosing and making.”
