MAITLAND, FL— Within the pages of LaMonthe A. Colquitt, Sr.’s new book, MR. S. NOR, ($19.99, paperback, 9781498475976; $9.99, e-book, 9781498475983) young readers will meet a Mr. S. Nor, a tired cricket in search of a new place to lay his head and get needed rest. Every night before he goes to sleep, he says a prayer for a night of peace. However, he is unaware that his snoring is waking people in the building and this in turn saves them from danger. Hearing the commotion elsewhere in the building, Mr. S. Nor is awakened and is unable to return to sleep so he decides to move to a higher level in his new home. Sleeping near a vent in his apartment building loudly echoes his snoring throughout the building thereby saving more and more tenants from danger. So although Mr. S. Nor prayed for the peace to get a good night's sleep for him, he instead brought peace to others. This is a clever story showing how one person’s prayer may be another person’s blessing.

I would like people to learn the importance of prayer and not losing hope when things do not work out the way we plan them,” states the author. “I don’t want anyone to ever give up on his or her goals.

LaMonthe A. Colquitt, Sr. was born in Torrance, California and grew up in Compton, California.  He was recruited in a gang at the age of 7 years old and was educated to the under-world of the streets. His mom worked hard to move her children out of the rapid destruction that plagued their neighborhood. She succeeded and moved her family to Rowland Heights, California. After high school, LaMonthe joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. After the military, LaMonthe had a car accident where he became an eyewitness to life after death. God allowed the experience of death to show him that the Savior of All is real and his life had to change.

As a single dad, God opened the doors of UNLV for LaMonthe to receive his Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education. As a licensed teacher, home owner, business owner of Learning For Real (tutoring service), Assistant/Youth Pastor and mentor, LaMonthe continues to be of use in advancing His Father’s Kingdom with his brothers and sisters that are known as UnAshamed to Put in Work. Because of LaMonthe Colquitt’s love for his children, grandchildren and the children he has educated, the desire to write children picture books became another way to reach and teach the readers through positive stories.
