MAITLAND, FL— David Q. Tran’s new book, Warning Shots - Memoirs Of A Sinner Saved By Grace, ($15.99, paperback, 9781498484428; $25.99, hardcover, 9781498484435; $7.99, e-book, 9781498484442) tells the author’s riveting life story from his childhood in Vietnam to serving his country as part of the Army of the Republic of Viet Nam. He recounts the shocking time when he and his wife Anna were awaiting the birth of their first child and the North Vietnamese Army captured them during the final days of the Vietnam War. Those heart-pounding moments of capture, and what transpired afterwards, will keep readers on the edge of their seats until David and his family finally resettle in the United States and he makes the ultimate decision to receive Jesus Christ as his Savior and embrace the Christian faith.

This is not only a powerful life story but David Q. Tran provides an interesting view of Vietnam. He offers thorough details about his upbringing and the lifestyle of those residing in Vietnam. Readers will be intrigued at this part of history with his accurate depictions of Vietnam before and during the war. This includes his time spent in the military plus a first-hand account of his time spent in refugee and concentration camps – allows readers to truly understand what soldiers had to undergo. Although the Vietnam War ended forty-one years ago, the author believes that some American veterans still need closure of the War that impacted their lives. This book will help those veterans to know what happened to their comrades-in-arms who were left behind.

David Q. Tran grew up as a pagan, although he had been aroused by the enigma of life and death in some fleeting moments – but his life always continued as usual. However, when facing imminent death as a POW, he awaited the fateful moment numbly, but God carried him through the shadow of the valley of death and then some. In incredible turns of events the Lord Jesus gifted him with eternal life. Looking back over his life, David sees that God had a hand over all his life and this book is a celebration of the life God spared and redeemed to new life.

I was ignorant of God and His righteous judgment on sinners, but Christ in mercy sought me out,” states the author. “Everything happened to a saint was not at random or senseless but to manifest the glory of the triune God. The Lord arranged my life in such a way that I was able to comprehend an unseen yet eternal reality, repent of my sin, and testify His salvific works on me to the Church also to the world.

David Q. Tran was born and raised Chinese in Vietnam, educated in the languages of Chinese, English, and Vietnamese by native speakers. He served 6 years in ARVN’s Medical Service Corps to the rank of First Lieutenant and was captured by the enemy on the withdrawal from the Central Highlands. David survived POW camps and concentration camps from 1975 to 1978. He fled Vietnam by boat and sheltered in Malaysian refugee camps before coming to the States. As he explains it, “the hardship and suffering of the Vietnam War and its aftermath plus the experience of the sin of self and others enshrines the preciousness of salvation by Christ.”
