MAITLAND, FL— Thomas J. Wasserbauer, MD’s new book, LIFE EXPERIENCES AND RANDOM THOUGHTS - There Are Things To Be Said, ($12.99, paperback, 9781498485760; $6.99, e-book, 9781498485777) shares his powerful memoir to not only reinforce the fact that life is unpredictable but to show that adversity and opportunity confront everyone. Through his story, he proves that how a person reacts to challenging circumstances defines one’s values, guides their lives and determines the legacy they leave.

The author wants readers to be aware of the impact one’s life has on their family, children, grandchildren, friends and even the world, however great or small. He stresses that it is the legacy one leaves that determines whether the world is made, at least a little better. Through his writing, he shows how his beliefs, convictions and opinions regarding parenting, religion, government, and an evolving culture were tempered by his unique life experiences. His strong belief in legacy is evident in this book and will compel readers to consider what legacies they will leave behind.

Our opinions and actions should be guided by Judeo-Christian values,” states the author. “An evolving culture appears in opposition to those values. As we form opinions regarding that culture and direct our actions, we must be honest and seek and embrace truth.”

Here’s what William J. Bifano, Retired Deputy Chief of the Microgravity Science Division NASA Glenn Research Center, says about this outstanding book:

“Dr. Tom Wasserbauer overcame adversity as a teenager to live an extraordinary as well as inspirational life. In this book, Dr.Tom offers his prescriptions for living a purposeful life by recounting personal experiences as well as thought provoking musings on a variety of subjects. He stresses the importance of self-determination and loyalty to family and God in achieving happiness and fulfillment.”

After a short career as an aerospace engineer with NASA, Tom switched careers to medicine and graduated from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. This career change was the result of his brush with polio at age fourteen, when the dedication of those in medicine caring for him made a lasting impression. Even when facing considerable weakness in his back and legs, he coped with the rigors of medical education, postgraduate training, and private practice. However, the residual of polio advanced over the years and now confined to a wheelchair, he was forced to abandon a rewarding career in pediatric and adolescent medicine – after forty years in practice. Reflecting on his life, he realized there were many unique experiences that should be recorded for posterity. Along with those experiences, as he pondered conditions in this country, the world, and evolving cultural values, random thoughts emerged – hence, the title of his book. According to Tom, future writings on random thoughts will be forthcoming.
