MAITLAND, FL—
Rusty Marie Belanger Wilson’s new book Not
An Easy Child ($20.99, paperback, 9781545602362; $9.99, eBook, 9781545602379 ) is the compelling historical and
personal story of a questioning woman born into a large religious family
struggling to understand and cope with personal conflicts arising out of the
concept of blind obedience in her Catholic teachings versus free thought in a
secular society. Her personal and revealing stories span seven decades of
cultural and religious changes, propelling her to continuously challenge and
redefine the teachings of her youth against the philosophies and ideologies of
her culture as they impacted her thoughts and beliefs during the course of her
life while maintaining her absolute belief in God. Readers of all ages, whether
religious or secular, will enjoy various revealing personal accounts contained
within this book as the author confronts outdated convictions and the
unexpected challenges of dealing with conditional love from those who claim to
love her, yet fail to do so when she thinks or behaves differently than their
expectations within changing religious and secular cultures.
Wilson writes, “ This is a book appealing to all ages of diverse cultures as it illustrates
the external and internal struggles young people go through on their way to
adult maturity as well as the challenges encountered during the course of
adulthood when deciding their own fate and defining their values and beliefs.
Its essence is captured in personal accounts illustrating the manner in which
the author faces traditional institutionalized tyranny, a home dominated by the
iron hand of a father, and the consequences of a woman going against those
tenets while embracing the freedom of self-expression and free thought.”
Rusty Marie Belanger Wilson is a deeply
spiritual woman and enjoys a rewarding life as an author, paralegal,
motivational speaker, successful wife, mother and grandmother. She began her

articles for her large family and friends while employed full time as a
paralegal in the insurance defense industry.
