This book describes, in vivid, entertaining, and no nonsense detail, the amazing determination of a mother, who stood against all who stood against her: The medical experts who told her to abandon her young son to the state mental institution, and forget him. The educational experts, who could never find a program to help him, and even the religious experts at times, who challenged her walk with God. It also tells about her firm, unyielding stand against her own son, describing his constant epileptic seizures, drug reactions, and violent behaviors. It flows easily in revealing her relentless drive, step by step, to find, and to touch, the very same Jesus Christ she had believed in as a little girl, not the one at church where people only talked about Him, but instead, the One who was alive, and who was real!

Author Profile

Carolyn Mannila Harper, MS, is full blooded Scandinavian, all four of her grandparents came to America from Finland, and so she was born with an amazing ability within her called “sisu,” the ingredient which gives Fins their inner grit to be able to survive in the harsh winters of their homeland. She had always known, above all else, that God created her to be a mother, so dedicated her life to raising her four children, and then enrolled in the University of Oregon, where she earned both Bachelor of Science, and Master of Science degrees. Recently, she celebrated her 65th birthday, cares for her disabled son at home, and three of her grandchildren. Quite often you will find her with the children, racing the river on their mountain bikes, to Alton Baker Park, or to Autzen stadium, to watch the Oregon Ducks play football.
