Our homes are our safe havens, the places where we can rest
and have peace of mind. A home is where you can find support, love,
encouragement, listening ears, comfort and trust. All of our needs can be met
within the four walls of which we live. But what happens when there is a major
upset that turns your restful place into a place of uncertainty. The home in
which you once found comfort has become a house of tears, heart aches, and
pain. Pain from having a love one taken from you, being criticized and schemed
against and the anguish of dealing with a rebellious angry child. This is a
story of a grandmother who weathers the storms of life that beat forcefully
upon her and her family. In spite of her tears and suffering, she held on to
her beliefs because she knows that one day all will be restored unto her.
I would like to take just a brief
moment to share a little of myself with you. My name is Naomia S. Epps, and I
was born in a small town called Salters, South Carolina. I am the fifth of six
children born to Emmett (who is deceased) and Sarah Smith.
I moved to Greensboro, North Carolina in 1994, where I lived for thirteen years
working as a Nursing Secretary. After those thirteen years, I reunited with a
past love, got married and moved back home to South Carolina in 2007, where we
reside in Florence.
I wrote my first inspired gospel play titled, “CAN YOU BELIEVE?” of which my
book, “A GRANDMOTHER’S FAITH “ is an adaptation. I’ve also written other plays
titled, “WHEN THAT DAY COMES and “NOT IN MY HOUSE.” (Gods house) My other works
include several gospel songs: “GOD IS WONDERFUL,”  “A HEART LIKE
YOURS,”  “JESUS DID” (All Because He Loves Me)  “THE SPIRIT CHANGES,”
and “PRESS ON” (Too Close To Heaven). I also wrote a love song titled “LOVE YOU
FOREVER” that I wrote for my husband, Sammie, for our fourth wedding
anniversary.
I know that everyone is put on earth for a reason, but I never knew what my
purpose was until God took a what was to be a short skit and turned it into a
long informative play; then I thought this is what He wants me to do, this is
my reason for being, to be a voice for Him to his people.
