I wrote this book because I love the story of Joseph in Egypt, and because of its teaching about sowing and reaping—especially about our relationships with family, with child-raising, the opposite sex, and with God. This is not a children’s book, and it’s not really meant to be a “nice” book by glossing over what each generation needs to learn, often the hard way. I try to deal honestly with the issues, and I hope you’re not offended. For example, I deal frankly with Reuben’s adultery and with Joseph’s problem with Potiphar’s wife.
“Many of the troubles that plagued Joseph’s family were the result of the passivity of Jacob, pictured on the front cover speaking about life with his young son Joseph. Though a man of God, Jacob was a very poor husband and father.  I find this somehow encouraging in a reverse sort of way because I, a believer, and a husband and father myself, am not so hot sometimes.”
Since the Bible leaves out many details of Joseph’s life, I’ve speculated about Joseph and his contemporaries who were real people in a real time and place, and who reaped good and rotten fruits from the choices they made concerning the same passions, hopes, and fears we all have.
