The study showed how the success and failures of these men were intimately related to how they handled the challenges of the psycho-spiritual themes in their lives. The spirituality of these men further reminds us to pay attention to our own spirituality. They served to emphasize the critical importance of maintaining a continual spiritual relationship with Christ as the path to a powerful, rich and effective Christian spiritual life.

Albert C. Gaw, MD, is a board-certified practicing Christian psychiatrist, an author, a clinical professor of psychiatry at UCSF and the Medical Director of Quality Management for San Francisco's Community Behavioral Health Services. He is an advocate of holistic and integrated living and medical healing, and for the integration of culture, spirituality and psychiatry. Dr. Gaw lives in San Francisco with his wife, Tina, a psychotherapist. Their daughter, Julie, is a film producer.
