From early in
his life John became aware of God’s leadership. A church building was
constructed directly across the street from the Prothro home when John was
seven. In addition the young pastor spent many hours in John’s home as he
canvassed the neighborhood, eventually being the one who baptized the young
lad.
John graduated
from college with a degree in engineering and worked as a Junior Engineer for a
couple of years, but by the age of thirty changed directions and entered the
seminary to train for the ministry. With his wife and two sons he ministered in
and through churches large and small. After retiring at age 76 he found time to
complete books which he began ten years before.
