The Lord led a retired, Canadian teacher to the Home of Loving Faithfulness, a place living up to its name, retreaded him and pressed him into service. Little did he realize when he first visited the home—rather reluctantly—in December, 2001 that he would revisit it more than a dozen times over the following ten years. This is a love story, an account of a special friendship between a retired teacher and a severely handicapped girl, a record of the joy that flows from serving others.
Bill Van Dam, a retired special needs teacher, lives with his wife Ena, also a teacher, in Abbotsford, British Columbia. After raising a family of five children, they taught English for six years in Chinese colleges and universities. Upon retiring, they volunteered their services for ten years at a home for severely physically and mentally handicapped people in Hong Kong.
