Faith requires an object of belief. For Christians, that is Jesus Christ. Acceptance requires an answer to “What is the relationship between Jesus Christ and myself?” The primary and most relatable relationship in one of betrothal. During Jesus’ teaching ministry, the typical Hebrew marriage was in two parts; (1) The Betrothal (a more formal designation of the couple for each other than contemporary engagement) and (2) The Blessing (at which the couple was prayed over and given to each other). Between the two parts, the couple was considered married, although not living together. The Old Testament is filled with references indicating this two part betrothal to Jesus from the Last Supper to His second coming for the wedding blessing with His betrothed brides individually. Bob has had his share of childhood difficulties largely coming from parenting stresses and some physical difficulties. Yet, he has earned his degrees from major universities and became vice president of a major financial institution. He has retired from his own technology consulting company.
