FAQ's
What is the difference between black-and-white books versus color books?
With a color book you have the option of inserting a colored image, or you have the option of creating a full color page where the text and images are all in color. Black and white books do not contain any interior color.
What sizes can my book be printed in?
We offer two sizes:
8.5" x 8.5" Small Trim Retail Price
8.5" x 11" Large Trim Retail Price
What is Color Matching?
Color matching is the process of accurately duplicating colors and making adjustments if necessary, with the intent of reducing differences between print runs. We will do everything possible to ensure your book's colors are printed as accurately and consistently as possible. There is, however, a possible color variance. You may see a small variance in the color's brightness or hue, especially in books printed at different times. There may even be a slight difference in other books or printed materials. A slight difference within the allowable variance is a normal part of the printing process.
Why are color books more expensive?
Color books are more expensive to produce than black & white books. The more pages your color book has, the higher it's selling price options will be. If you're publishing a children's book, we strongly recommend keeping the total number of pages between 4 and 48 pages in order to price your book competitively.
Do I get a chance to review the book before it goes to press?
Absolutely. We will post both the text (a galley) and the book cover design (a cover comp) online to your Author Center account for your review.
Can I get my color book in hardcover?
At this time, color books are only available in paperback.
I am a Xulon author. Book distributors are sending me emails wanting to distribute my book. What Should I do?
Authors are advised to be VERY careful entering into any distribution agreement with anyone and are advised to seek the help of an attorney who specializes in publishing/ print media law to advise them. Due to the services the Best-Seller and Premium programs our authors ALREADY enjoy distribution by the biggest distributor of Christian books in the world, Spring Arbor/ Ingram which serves 25,000 stores and libraries.
If I already published a book with you can I print the same book in color?
There are completely different guidelines for black-and-white books versus color books. Your files will need to be resubmitted according to the color guidelines. This would be considered a new book. Please contact your Publishing Consultant for additional information on this matter.
