LONGWOOD, FL-Alistair John Simpson is a Scottish man in his forties, who, being cognisant of the atrocious sufferings of the peoples of Africa and strengthened by his heart's desire to aid them to the maximum of his ability, gave up all to obey the call of God and said goodbye to his beloved wife and family, forsaking an extremely comfortable, prosperous existence in England, and accepted the role of the life of a Christian missionary serving his Lord in Africa.
Where, completely alone, and without adequate support or resources sufficient, he walked in the darkness of the intrepid and fearful tribal superstitions and idolatry of Central and East Africa, planting myriads of Gospel seeds for his commitment to the sacrifice and love of Christ, on the cruel but so beautiful cross of Calvary.
During the course of his work there, he suffered many illnesses, brutal physical attacks, (actually passing through death more than once) betrayals by those he loved the most, and an horrendous year in an African prison. And he, as a completely innocent man, had neither crime nor charges to answer. But his God never failed him.
When Pastor Alistair was miraculously released from prison and cruelly deported from Tanzania, he was totally penniless (having all of his own personal property, home, land, and all else legally stolen by the Government of Tanzania) and himself lamentably sick, but thankfully alive.
His remakable African story, however, is one that simply must be told. On the Wings of the Wind (paperback, 978-1-60477-028-5) is a tale which is hard to believe, but one that will stand the test of time. It is a tense, gripping account of spiritual attacks engendered simply because this 21st century man dared to walk in obedience to his God.
Despite his hardships and sufferings, this missionary witnessed a great harvest of souls, miracles of healings too many to number, and astounding but true deliverances in abundance, including raising of the dead. He worked for twelve long, hard, but so profoundly rewarding years in Kenya, Tanzania, and Zaire, walking, talking, and learning ever more about our God, the Saviour and Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ.
On the Wings of the Wind is the first book in a trilogy which covers the events that took place during those miraculous but tremendously testing years. Alistair desires with all of his heart, to share his experiences with every potential son and daughter of the Lord Jesus Christ so that others will marvel at God's power as revealed to him in this the 21st century, and all in the face of humanity's atrocities, corruptions, and sins in the sincerest and most fervent hope that some of them, he prays, will dare to do the sameÉthus to set beacons of light for others to follow in this, the darkest and most fearful of centuries ever to manifest in our so beautiful world.
Missionary Alistair states, "The imperative importance for today's Christians is to heed the call of the lost, unsaved, frightened, and suffering masses, and-in tandem with this-to act and respond to that cry without regard for personal comfort , possessions , glory, desires, fears, inhibitions, or the apparent lack of resources."
Alistair John Simpson has traveled the world for more than twenty years as a missionary. He has worked in Tanzania, Kenya, Zaire, Great Britain, North America, and Mexico.
