Two Airmen Tell Their True-Life Stories of Service and Sacrifice
Their friendship endures the uncommon challenges of World War II

LONGWOOD, FL-Eagles' Wings: An Uncommon Story of World War II (paperback, 978-1-60266-390-9) is the remarkable story of two friends who grew up together in the same Michigan town during the 1930's. At the onset of World War II, both men enlisted in the US Army Air Corps. Though their paths separated at that point, both were wounded and spent time as prisoners of war. By chance, both men ended up in an orthopedic hospital located just blocks away from their childhood homes. The personal stories of Air Force veterans Jack Curtis and Larry Jenkins take you back in time as they deliver powerful, first-hand accounts of bravery and endurance in a season of war. This is the kind of history no text book could ever capture.

Author Andrew Layton is the youthful friend of the airmen in this book and is dedicated to recording the stories of the thousands of unsung heroes everywhere who also have uncommon stories to tell, if we are only willing to listen. "I have always been fascinated with the stories veterans tell," says Layton. "Eagles' Wings is a true account of two men's service and sacrifice during some of our nation's most trying days."

Andrew Layton has enjoyed a passion for history for as long as he can remember. Raised in an Air Force family, Layton published his first book, Wolverines in the Sky: Michigan's Fighter Aces of WWI, WWII, and Korea, at the age of sixteen. He is the recipient of the VA's James H. Parke Youth Volunteer of the Year Award, the DAV's Jesse Brown Memorial Youth Scholarship, and Michigan's Legion of Merit Medal.
