New Book Guides Readers Through Sometimes Overwhelming Task

LONGWOOD, FL-How do Christians look at the most rewarding assignment given to them, by the highest power in the universe? While it is an enormous privilege to carry out the Great Commission, the question is how do we do that effectively? Amid their passion and zeal for this assignment, believers often feel they lack the skills necessary to complete the task. If only they could hurdle the impediments that have tripped them up in the past. If only they could become better educated about how to evangelize. Readers now have reason for renewed hope. In Divine Connections they will discover how to shine their light in the mission field and make a real impact.

Instead of just "telling" the reader to carry out the Great Commission, Divine Connections, Reaching Out and Leading Up (November, $13.99, 1-59781-558-6) by Christopher W. Chenevert goes to the next level, walking readers through the "how" and "why." Chenevert leans on his 18 years of communication training and development, both in secular and church settings. Says the author, "In creating such a book, I've departed from some common approaches taken in other self-help or skills-building books." The book is designed to be very user-friendly, and it will appeal to all denominations. Readers are sure to benefit from the biblical process Chenevert lays out for them, one that can easily be applied on a daily basis.

Among the many teachings Chenevert offers is an approach that helps soul-winners recognize three possible states of mind (Natural Child, Compliant Child, Rebellious Child) of the person they are witnessing to something that factors greatly into the success of trying to lead that person to the truth. Divine Connections walks believers through a four-step biblical, systematic, repeatable communication process to help them share the gospel. Inspired and equipped with practical instruction, believers will be able to turn that knowledge into action for God's kingdom.

Christopher W. Chenevert is a regional small group director for Christ's Church of the Valley in Peoria, Arizona. He also runs Divine Connections, LLC, a Christian company that focuses on building faith, strength, and hope in troubled teens and young adults. With over 18 years of communication, sales training, and motivation training experience from the secular world, he now spends his time teaching these skill sets at churches to help believers better carry out the Great Commission. Chenevert received his BA in history from Ottawa University and is currently enrolled at Bethany Bible College and Seminary working on his master's degree in biblical theology. He and his wife have two sons.
