LONGWOOD, FL-Following the end of World War II, America is returning to normal. But for the Armstrong family, illness and financial disaster threaten to shatter their once carefree world. Against this backdrop, author Linda Copeland Annis weaves a story of family, adversity, and God's unexpected grace in The Twilight Rose (paperback, 978-1-60266-949-9; hardcover, 978-1-60266-950-5).
"My book is multi-faceted and contains lessons for children and adults, spun around the lives of a very special family," says Annis, "all of whom show God's grace and point to the way of salvation in simple, everyday words."
Struggling against multiple disasters, the eldest Armstrong children assume the responsibilities their parents can no longer carry. Together, the siblings flee their beloved home to escape the designs of domineering relatives to separate them. In the tiny Connecticut village of Hopeville, they learn of God's plans for their young lives as hope is truly restored. Never would they have believed such victories could be reclaimed, in part, by a single prize-winning rose.
After authoring two works of nonfiction, Annis turned to writing only wholesome, inspirational fiction. She credits her favorite author, Grace Livingston Hill, as teaching her the basics of storytelling. "I like to think I'm following the trail she so ably blazed before," the author says.
Linda Annis, a native of Florida, is both writer and artist. She lives in Tampa with her husband and travels often to visit family scattered from California to Florida.
