Scary Story Spotlights Apathy in the Church
Author spins yarn in what's sure to become Christian horror classic

LONGWOOD, FL-An unemployed college dropout, Dras Weldon spends his nights partying and his days recuperating. Dras is forced to change, however, when an evil force known only as "The Strange Man" comes to town and threatens to claim his best friend, Rosalyn Myers. As the demon and his minions descend upon his town of Greensboro, Dras struggles to lay claim to the faith he has pretended to follow. But will he be able to convince Rosalyn of the truth before she is devoured by The Coming Evil (paperback, 978-1-60266-590-3; hardcover, 978-1-60266-591-0)? Greg Mitchell's Christian thriller deals with apathy in the church, a lack of human responsibility for the condition of our community, and a fear of the unknown.

A lifelong fan of scary stories, Mitchell found himself fascinated by monsters because he spent a great deal of his childhood being afraid of them. When he grew up, he discovered that evil existed in the world, and not just as he envisioned it as a kid. "Through my faith in Christ, I am able to stand against those things that frighten me as an adult," says Mitchell. "I hope to share with other adults the power that God supplies to overcome our fears."

A former screenwriter in the Christian film industry, the author hopes to use his love of horror to communicate to other horror fans the power of Christ and the tools we need to combat evil. "I believe Christians must unite to fight against the dark powers of the world," says Mitchell. "This book showcases that in a very fresh, exciting, and unique way."

Greg Mitchell lives in northeast Arkansas with his wife and daughter. He screen-prints by day and writes about monsters by night.
